POSTED JUNE 2010 Hi Everyone!!
Take a look at the
attached newsletter that John Broderick, a K.I.D.S. Plus Dad and Just
For Kicks soccer coach, developed. It's really amazing!!! Thank you
John!! We are currently developing our
summer programs. Yoga will begin 7/12 and will run for 10 weeks on
Mondays from 4:30 to 5:30pm. All ages and abilities are welcome. A
martial arts program will also begin in July for the older kids. The
details are being worked out. As are the details for music therapy and
a few basketball clinics. I will continue to send emails as the
programs are developed. Please check the website periodically. My
goal is to run 3 afternoon programs per week through the summer. It
is through our fundraising efforts that we can run these programs at
such an affordable rate. Thank you all for your incredible basket
donations for the fundraiser on Friday night at Napper Tandy's. It
will be a wonderful evening. Your generosity and support for K.I.D.S.
Plus is truly amazing!! I thank you from the bottom of my heart. We will also run a 2 hour camp each day the last week of August. M, W, F from 10-12 and T, Th from 12-2. Stay tuned!! PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT KIDS PLUS!! YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A NORTHPORT RESIDENT TO ATTEND! With gratitude and appreciation for all of our children,
Tammie POSTED MAY 2010 Hi everyone, I'm hoping you will join me in 4 upcoming events. The first is coming up on may 22nd-23rd. It is a walk for autism called REAL-AID and takes place on the south shore of Long Island, from school district to school district, beginning in East Islip and ending in Montauk. For thirty dollars you can help raise $ for programs for autism and other disabilities, including KIDS Plus programs. Please visit http://www.ejautismfoundation.org to register. I am organizing a KIDS Plus team. My plan is to begin the walk on Saturday May 22nd mid morning; I will confirm the details later. Please let me know if you would be interested in joining our team! RSVP to me. The
2nd event will take place on Sunday May 23rd (I know - lots going on
that weekend!) at St Anthony's High School from 12-3. The info is
below. Please RSVP to me.
Friars Golden Kids 2010
All children with special needs, their families, and friends are invited to join Saint Anthony’s High School students for a “Fun Day” At Saint Anthony’s High School On Sunday May 23, 2010 from 12:00 to 3:00
We will have field day races and events like a water balloon toss, a three-legged race, relay races, parachute games, and other fun games for all ages. There will be food and drinks provided at lunch
The
3rd event is a bike riding day for your child on Sunday June 13th from
11-2 in the back parking lot at Dickinson Avenue School. If you
are having difficulty getting rid of those training wheels, KIDS Plus
is sponsoring an organization to come in and make this goal a
reality. This is a FREE event for children of all ages and all
abilities. The parking lot is fenced in and completely safe. Please RSVP to me.
The 4th event will take place on Friday, June 18th at Napper Tandy's in Northport.
It is a 'bar night' fundraiser for KIDS Plus. Attached is a flier about
the evening. Please copy and distribute. I am counting on your help to
get the word out. The next extremely important item I need help with
is Chinese raffle basket/prize solicitation. The baskets are such a
huge component to any fundraiser and here is how you can help. I am
asking that each family or 2 families together commit to contributing
on theme basket or prize valued at $100. This does not mean that you
have to give me $100. You can decide on a theme and solicit or
purchase items for that theme. You can construct the basket yourself
or give me the items and I will construct it. My next email will have
more information regarding basket ideas and wrapping, etc... See the flier on our Fundraiser Page.
I
hope you will all join me in making these events a success. KIDS Plus
programming requires fundraising in order to offer programs at
substantially reduced rates. I really appreciate all of your help.
With your help the kids will have a great time, will learn a thing or
2 and we'll raise some $$!!
There
is a lot of information here so you will receive individual emails
about all of these events. Thanks so much for your support! Tammie TopelFounder and President, K.I.D.S. Plus, Inc. 631-514-1096 ttkidsplus@gmail.com kidsplusinc.com POSTED FEBRUARY 2010 Sadly, as you may already know, Mairaid McCarroll, an 8 year old girl, who played soccer for Just for Kicks and Basketball for K.I.D.S. Plus, passed away recently. Despite having Down Syndrome, Mairaid was athletic, energetic and filled with enthusiasm. In memory of Mairaid, her parents ask that donations be made to the Association for Children with Down's Syndrome in her honor. We will miss Mairaid and all that she brought to our programs. We are thankful to have know her. ANNOUNCEMENT LETTER MAILED TO K.I.D.S. PLUS MAILING LIST IN DECEMBER 2009 Hi Everyone!! I want to let you all know what my plans are for January. I will be offering BASKETBALL and YOGA under my newly formed Foundation K.I.D.S. Plus. The programs will both run for 10 weeks. BASKETBALL will be Fridays, beginning January 15th, from 4:30 to 6pm, and we will play at Norwood Avenue School. Registration will take place on January 8th. YOGA will be Mondays, beginning January 11th, from 4:30 to 5:30pm, and will take place at the Power of One Gym located on Church Street. All children with disabilities from all communities are welcome to participate in both programs and siblings are welcome to take yoga. We welcome ages 4-20+. All programs will be run paid professionals and staffed with volunteers to assist the children. Volunteers are most welcome for both programs. K.I.D.S Plus is 501(c)3 organization and at present we are relying on private donations to fund the programs. We are fully insured. For these reasons we will require a fee for the programs but NO ONE will be turned away for their inability to pay. I am presently researching available grants through OMRDD and other state and federal agencies. If any of you have experience with grant writing, let me know. Your assistance would be most appreciated. I am collaborating with the Town of Huntington to offer programs on days and weeks off from school and on weekends. I will keep you posted. Please visit our website kidsplusinc.com for more information, to download registration forms and for directions. The fee for each 10 week program will be $25 for the first child, $15 for the second child and $10 for the third. Keep in mind that no one will be turned away for inability to pay. If you are experiencing financial hardship during these economic times, please address this with me. All correspondences will be confidential. I look forward to to seeing you all in January!! Let me know if you have any questions. Please forward this email to anyone you think might benefit form these programs. I wish you all a wonderful holiday season!
